Christmas Crazy

Hello!  I haven't posted in over a week simply because of the crazy amount of Christmas orders I've been receiving.  Thank you so much to everyone who has made the last two months a great success for my Etsy shop!
Along with all the fun ornaments and heating pads I've been making I also had a special request for a muppet type plush.  I was asked to make a plush Wumpus character from the tv show Greg the Bunny.  It was a lot of fun to work with fake fur!  Here's a picture of the final product:
Sitting in his lap is a keychain version of the same monster.
That's all for now, as I must get back to sewing! ;)

Supersize It!

I just finished working on an awesome, super sized hippo!  The customer's son asked for "the biggest hippo ever" for Christmas.  While I don't know if this guy is the "biggest ever", he's pretty huge compared to my normal, large animals.  Soon to be available in my shop.

Here's to getting a Hippopotamus for Christmas! :)

NOT The Big Bad Wolf

I had the pleasure to work on another custom order for a new customer this past week.  The customer requested 2 plush heating pads in the likeness of wolves.  I spent a few days searching for the right fabric.  Once I found it I got to work.  Here is the result:

Two cute, cuddly, not so scary wolves.  One has an all grey body, while the other has a white tummy and bottom legs.  I hope the two lucky boys receiving these for Christmas enjoy them, while keeping nice and cozy and warm. :)

Om Nom!

Who wants to Cut The Rope on their Christmas tree this year?

Here's the perfect ornament for any Cut the Rope fan

This little guy sat and stared at me all night last night.  How can you resist those eyes? :)

This guy is for sale in my shop: www.warmfuzziesbygen.etsy.com.  He's made to order (this one is already sold), so make sure you allow enough time for Christmas delivery.

Tree Time!

With only 39 days to go until Christmas. Now is the time to think about your tree.  Every year we visit our local tree farm, Benjamin Tree Farm , to cut down our Christmas tree.  This year, all of my products will be available for purchase in their gift shop! So, if you are local to the Waterloo area, check out Benjamin Tree Farm.  Don't worry if you already have a tree, you can simply enjoy the free hot apple cider and cookies while doing a little last minute shopping. :)

Stripy Cat

I ordered some new fabric that I thought looked kind of interesting online. When it arrived I wasn't sure if I liked it, or what I would use it for.  I have been busy preparing my products to take to Benjamin Tree Farm for the Christmas season and thought I would give the fabric a try.  I thought it would be most suited to a cat.  Here are the results.

I think it turned out rather well.  The fabric itself is incredibly soft.  This would make a wonderful gift for yourself, or someone you love.
This cat will be available for sale at Benjamin Tree Farm from November 17 through to December 24.  I will also be making him available in my Etsy shop, as made to order.
Have a great weekend!

Ribbon Organizer

My friend showed me an awesome, easy, cheap way to organize your ribbon that I thought I would share.
First, go to the dollar store and buy a plastic basket, with holes in the sides.  I got a two pack for $1.50.  Also pick up a package of wooden dowels, I got a package of about 10 for $1.

Simply thread the spools of ribbon onto the dowel and place the dowel through the side holes of the basket.

Once that is done, thread the end of the ribbons through the front of the basket and voila!  Instant organization for $2.50!

Anyone want to Play?

I know it's not Hallowe'en yet, but for those of us in the crafting business, we have to think ahead to the next holiday.  The next BIG holiday for me is....Christmas!!  While I know that you may not like to think about that just yet, you still may enjoy my new line of Mario Brothers inspired Christmas ornaments.  They are just so fun and loveable. They are perfect for any Nintendo fan, past or present.
Hope you enjoy!

Sew, sew, sew, must get ready for the Show!

I hope that all of my Canadian friends are having a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!  I over-indulged on turkey yesterday and enjoyed an awesome turkey sandwich for lunch today.

The last couple of weeks I have been a sewing fiend!  I'm trying desperately to make a lot of stock for the upcoming Made By Hand Show (www.madebyhandshow.com).  I've manage to finish making 8 new plush heating pads in the past 10 days.  That is a record for me (especially considering I didn't sew for 3 days in the middle).
Thought I'd give you a sneak peek at a couple of the new plushies I've finished and will be taking with me.  I know it's still October, but I already have Christmas on the brain.  So, in honour of that, here is my interpretation of Rudolph and his cute pink girlfriend - Rose. They make a perfect pair, with Rudy's red nose and Rose's pink fur, they are both a little special in their own ways. ;)  Both of these cuties are available in my Etsy shop too: www.warmfuzziesbygen.etys.com

Coming soon, to a blog near you...needle felted Christmas ornaments....

Bayonetta Panther

I had a special request last month to create a Bayonetta Panther plush.  I'd never heard of Bayonetta before I received the request, but I soon discovered it was an awesome video game.  After looking at several references, this is what the final product turned out like:

This was one of my main references:

I think my interpretation turned out pretty well!

Mrs. Bigglesworth

One of the fun things about making plush animals is the inventive things that some people come of up.  I was recently asked to created a white cat, with a brown tail and collar....and spectacles.  I was sent a picture of what the customer had in mind.  Here are the results:

I'll be shipping "Mrs Bigglesworth" off today to her new owner.  I hope she brings a smile to her face.

The Season of Pumpkin Spice

It is that wonderful time of year between "back to school" and Halloween know by some as "Pumpkin Spice" season.  It seems like everywhere you look you now get it in "pumpkin spice".  Your lattes, coffees, muffins etc.  Don't get me wrong, I love the pumpkin spice as much as the next person. So, in honour of Pumpkin Spice Season I am going to share with you my own pumpkin muffin recipe.
I got this recipe several years ago when my first born was in kindergarten.  It is the favourite muffin recipe in my house and amongst my friends.  I've altered the recipe slightly to make it easier - you can just dump in one whole can of pumpkin pure instead of using 2/3 of the can.  The recipe yields a lot of muffins!  I generally get about 30 regular sized muffins and 24 mini muffins.  Fear not, as they freeze wonderfully.
So, here you go, I hope you enjoy!  (I won't be posting a lot of recipes, cooking is not my forte).

Pumpkin Muffins
- 3 cups of white sugar
- 1 1/2 cups of oil
- 3 cups of pumpkin pure (one 796ml can is perfect!)
- 4 eggs
- 4 1/2 cups of flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 tsp of baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 2-4 tsp cinnamon
Optional: 2 cups of chocolate chips (I always add these :)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees

Blend oil, sugar and eggs
Stir in pumpkin
Mix dry ingredients in a second bowl
Add dry ingredients to wet, mix well
Bake for 20-25 min

Enjoy!

Welcome!

So, here I go, starting a blog...To be honest, I'm not quite sure what I'm getting myself into.  I'm hoping that as the days and weeks go by my blogging voice will become more clear.  For now, I'm hoping to share with you updates from my Etsy shop (www.warmfuzziesbygen.etsy.com), things that are happening with my Warm Fuzzies outside of Etsy, and hopefully and little humour and insight into life in general.

I'm currently working on making some super cool needle felted ornaments for Christmas.  I'm hoping to share those with you in the next few days.  For now, I leave you with this:

You will soon discover, I'm sure, my love for bulldogs.  I just couldn't resist this guy, after all, what good is a blog with no pictures! ;)
